The Milwaukee Brewers started their existence in 1969 as an expansion team named the Seattle Pilots. After a disastrous debut season, the Pilots declared bankruptcy and were promptly bought up by Bud Selig, who had been looking for a team to play in his hometown ever since the Milwaukee Braves left for Atlanta in 1966.
Due to the complicated bankruptcy process, the renamed Milwaukee Brewers barely had time to prepare for their initial season, in 1970. That’s why the Brewers’ away and home jerseys that year were basically the Pilots' old outfits (blue and gold) with the name "Brewers" sewn on them. Milwaukee Brewers jerseys have undergone quite a few alterations over the years, but they have always utilized the blue-and-gold color scheme.
The Brewers have never won the World Series, but they have accumulated a number of impressive highlights over the years. They won the American League pennant in 1982, only to lose four games to three against the St. Louis Cardinals in the ensuing Series. Jumping to the National League for the 1998 season, the Brewers went on to clinch a Wild Card berth in 2008, and won NL Central Division titles in 2011 and 2018.
For many fans of this die-hard team, collecting Milwaukee Brewers throwback uniforms and jerseys is their preferred way to show their appreciation for the best players who have ever worn the blue and gold.
