The Colorado Rockies played their first season in 1993, as part of the MLB expansion that also saw the Florida Marlins joining the big leagues. It didn't take long for the Rockies to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with. In just their third season, the Rockies racked up a 77-67 record and earned a spot in the postseason for the first time. That season was also the first that the team played in Coors Field, which remains their home to this day.
In 1997, right fielder Larry Walker snagged the NL Most Valuable Player Award. He also won a couple Silver Slugger Awards during the '90s.
2007 was the biggest year to date for the franchise. The Rockies leveraged their second wild card berth into an NL pennant and a World Series appearance, only to be swept by the Boston Red Sox. Along the way, the Rockies' Matt Holliday was named the NLCS MVP and took home the NL batting championship. The Rockies went on to win wild card berths in 2009, 2017, and, 2018. It’s likely that the Colorado Rockies’ jerseys—purple, black, and silver—will soon be seen again in the postseason before long.
