Custom Throwback New York Giants NFL Jerseys

Established in 1924, the Giants have traditionally worn jerseys with different shades of red, blue, gray, and white. For its on-field attire, the team has always used solid, bold colors with a minimalist design.

During the 1980 season, the uniforms were completely redesigned and the excessive striping was largely abandoned. These new uniforms are a fusion of previous uniforms from the 1960s and 70s, and were worn by the team in Super Bowl XXI and XXV.

A few changes include removing the white stripes from the helmet and substituting a more traditional pattern for the sleeve stripes. Additionally, the collars of both jerseys were trimmed with a matching thin stripe pattern.

After the 1984 season, the pants lost the blue belts and replaced them with white ones. The side stripes returned to the contiguous blue-red-blue stripes seen from 1966 to 1974. Additionally, both the home and away socks returned to solid blue.

However, not all the design elements from 1975 were eliminated. The uniforms kept the same 1975 trim around the block numbers, and cleats and facemasks stayed white.

Giants home jerseys have been blue since 1981. The uniform would mostly remain unchanged over the next 19 seasons.

History of the New York Giants

With a history spanning more than 80 seasons, the New York Giants are among the earliest teams in American football history. They are partially responsible for the surge in popularity of American football in the United States.

The New York Giants rapidly established themselves as one of the greatest teams of early American football. The team took home championships in 1927, 1934, and 1938.

On Dec. 28, 1958, the Giants participated in a game that is known as "The Greatest Game Ever Played." In this NFL championship game, they took on the Baltimore Colts, and it was the first championship match to go into a “sudden death” overtime. Even though the Giants lost, they earned national attention for their intense game, which was broadcast on NBC across the country.

Bill Parcells took over as the Giants head coach in 1983. Parcells built teams that included quarterback Phil Simms, linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson, and tight end Mark Bavaro, setting the Giants up for success in years to come.

In 1986, the Giants clinched the top seed in the NFC and defeated the San Francisco 49ers 49–3 in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. In the NFC championship game, they defeated the Redskins 17–0.

With this win, they were able to advance to their first Super Bowl, Super Bowl XXI, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena against the Denver Broncos. They defeated the Broncos 39–20 to win their first championship since 1956, led by MVP Simms.

Having won another Super Bowl following 1990, Parcells led the team to success for the majority of his tenure. Parcells left the team after this victory. The team then had a mixed record between 1991 and 2000, with winning records in only four of those seasons.
