The Minnesota North Stars were one of 6 teams that were added to the NHL in 1967 when the league expanded to 12 teams. The team remained in Minnesota until 1993 during which time they won two division championships, one conference championship, and reached the NHL finals in 1991 only to lose in 6 games to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The North Stars have a rich history and boast 5 players that played for the team that are in the Hockey Hall of fame, including Mike Modano who began his great career as a North Star.

The franchise moved to Dallas, Texas in 1993 and became the Dallas Stars.
